Я хочу внести изменения в код виджета "Последние сообщения" - может кто-нибудь сказать, где находится этот код?

Код виджета последних сообщений по умолчанию включен, includes/default-widgets.phpно вы не должны взламывать основной код. Скопируйте эту функцию в свою тему functions.php, переименуйте ее и создайте свой собственный виджет.

Загляните внутрь wp-includes\default-widgets.php.

Если вы изменяете этот виджет, обязательно его разветвите и зарегистрируйте раздвоенный виджет как новый виджет .

Как раскошелиться на основной виджет

Начните с записи Кодекса в API виджетов .

1. Переименовать виджет

   Изменить это:

   class WP_Widget_Recent_Posts extends WP_Widget {}

   ...к этому:

   class wpse97411_Widget_Recent_Posts extends WP_Widget {}

2. Измените класс Widget в соответствии с вашими потребностями.

3. Зарегистрируйте свой виджет:

   function wpse97413_register_custom_widgets() {
       register_widget( 'wpse97411_Widget_Recent_Posts' );
   }
   add_action( 'widgets_init', 'wpse97413_register_custom_widgets' );
