Ubuntu 14.10 является устаревшей версией, и если вы хотите использовать, обновлять и устанавливать пакеты, вам нужно изменить его репозиторий.

Заменить URL in.archive.ubuntu.comи security.ubuntu.comнаold-releases.ubuntu.com

сохраните и закройте его.

Теперь запустите, sudo apt-get update а затем установите все пакеты, которые вы хотите установить.
